The industrial energy transition faces a dilemma: while demand for electricity is steadily rising, fossil fuels and even existing renewable energies are reaching their limits—especially in energy-intensive sectors such as steel, cement, chemicals, and ceramics. ENERGY TOWERS, a German cleantech company based in Leimen, now offers a scalable and emission-free solution that works independently of sun, wind, or fossil fuels.

“Industry needs a reliable energy supply, around the clock, directly on site, at predictable costs,” explains Stephan Ballweg, CEO of ENERGY TOWERS. “This is where ENERGY TOWERS comes in: We use industrial waste heat as initial energy and generate electricity with our technology.”
Clean electricity from waste heat
ENERGY TOWERS enable continuous electricity production with up to 8,000 full-load hours per year, significantly more than traditional renewable energies such as wind or solar power can achieve. By comparison, photovoltaic systems in Germany achieve an average of around 1,000 full-load hours per year, while wind turbines achieve around 2,000 to 3,000.
Why is this the case? ENERGY TOWERS technology uses industrial waste heat as its driving energy and is therefore independent of weather conditions or the time of day. This means that it can operate almost continuously – even at night, in the dark, or when there is no wind.
The result: companies in energy-intensive industries such as steel, cement, or ceramics can generate part of their own electricity – CO₂-free, predictable, and directly on site. This not only avoids grid bottlenecks and high electricity prices, but also utilizes waste heat that would otherwise be lost unused.
An example: In a cement plant, temperatures of over 1,400°C are generated during clinker production – much of this energy has previously escaped unused as hot exhaust air. With ENERGY TOWERS, this very heat source can be used to generate electricity.
Why industrial waste heat becomes a game changer with ENERGY TOWERS
Many industrial processes—such as in the cement, steel, ceramics, and chemical industries—generate large amounts of unused waste heat. ENERGY TOWERS turns this into usable energy: the innovative technology converts this process heat directly into clean electricity, regardless of weather conditions, CO₂-free, and around the clock. This brings clear advantages for manufacturing companies:
- Use of existing waste heat without additional fuel consumption
- Savings in energy procurement costs and CO₂ emissions
- Security of supply even during grid bottlenecks
- Quick installation and modular scaling (100 kW to >100 MW)
An ENERGY TOWER can be used efficiently wherever heat is continuously generated. This not only creates a reliable source of electricity, but also an economic and ecological advantage for the business.
“Our technology is scalable from 100 kW to over 100 MW,” emphasizes Zeki Akbayir, CTO and inventor of ENERGY TOWERS. “This means we offer a real alternative for manufacturing companies that want to operate independently, future-proof, and sustainably.”
